Brennan & Smith Optometrists were founded in 1988 and have been providing the New England area with comprehensive eye examinations for over 30 years. Since our inauguration we have placed a strong emphasis on both accurate refractive outcomes for our patients as well as thorough ocular health assessment.
Early detection of many eye conditions combined with prompt treatment, ensures better quality and duration of our patient’s vision. Since opening our doors in Armidale we have had expansion across the region to allow accessibility for many patients in an ageing demographic.

Remaining completely independent means we have a wide variety of frame and lens selection to suit the needs and fashion of every patient.
Armidale
The first of our four practice locations, Armidale is a vibrant community full of heritage and character with great opportunity in terms of education and sport. Home of the University of New England (UNE), the practice has a full scope of patients from students all the way through to retirees and we have the equipment and technology to provide the best possible eye care to all demographics.
Inverell
Following on from our initial practice in Armidale, the opportunity arose to diversify and cater to a wider population in Inverell. The Sapphire City boasts scenic outlooks and a bustling CBD which complements our practice perfectly and the additional local staff and optometrists have allowed our expansion into a market with high demand.
Glen Innes
Glen Innes is the most recent of our practices which we established in 2013. We have been able to employ local staff from the area who are assets to our business and help maintain a strong sense of independence and community. We provide a wide range of testing on a weekly basis.
Tenterfield
The opportunity arose to broaden our horizons and open the doors to a third practice in Tenterfield. Although a smaller population, we felt it necessary to allow more patient accessibility. Tenterfield has been undergoing a bit of a shift in recent years with many people downsizing to the rural lifestyle from major metropolitan cities. We provide eye testing on a weekly basis in this location and are able to employ local, friendly and well-trained staff.
